THREE BALBÁS OVER 90 IN PEÑÍN

Balbás Reserva, Ritus and Alitus have obtained more than 90 points in the prestigious Peñín Guide 2020.

After the tastings of thousands of wines from all over the national territory, the Peñín Guide jury has assessed three of our most famous wines with high scores, all of them above 90 points that make them one of the best in Spain. .

Thus, the scores were as follows:

Balbás Reserve: 91 points

The 24 months in the barrel and 18 months in the bottle that give shape to our Balbás Reserva make it a unique wine, with a classic Ribera del Duero style. The small percentage of Cabernet that we use in its production gives it an enviable personality. Thus, the aromas of ripe black fruit and hints of black pepper, toast and chocolate, together with a pleasant meatiness on the palate, reflect the complexity of this wine, the result of dedication and the careful passage of time.

Ritus: 91 points

Made entirely with grapes from a vineyard located at an altitude of 940 meters, our Ritus is a different wine. From the moment we decided to bet on cultivating high-altitude vineyards, we tried to achieve a modern-style wine, out of the ordinary. The Merlot that we use in its creation (25%) together with the Tempranillo (75%) makes it, on the nose, delicate and fresh, whose first impression reminds us of red fruits. Notes of spices such as cinnamon and toasted aging predominate, reminiscent of cedar, vanilla beans and autumn leaves. On the palate we appreciate a very elegant and well-crafted wood. It is fresh, long, with a very integrated acidity; the tannin begins to polish and makes it delicious and elegant.

Alitus: 92 points

The jewel in the Balbas crown. A special, different wine. Made from Tempranillo (75%), Cabernet (20%) and Merlot (5%), it has been aged for a total of 72 months, divided equally between barrel and bottle. On the nose it is delicate and fresh, whose first impression reminds us of red fruits. Notes of spices such as cinnamon and toasted aging predominate, reminiscent of cedar, vanilla beans and autumn leaves. On the palate we appreciate a very elegant and well-crafted wood. It is fresh, long, with a very integrated acidity; the tannin begins to polish and makes it delicious and elegant.
