Our philosophy is quality

Looking to the future, without forgetting our past

Our philosophy is simple. We follow the working methods of our ancestors, but adapted to our times. We use legacy techniques from more than 200 years ago together with innovative elements, all with the greatest respect for the product and attention to detail. Thus, we achieve that our wines are unrepeatable.

We have a technology team to help us grow. We work with him daily challenge to develop new techniques to preserve excellence in each of our labels.

We always want to go a little “further” providing a unique personality in the Ribera del Duero. This tenacity has elevated our wines to the elite of the sector both nationally and internationally, receiving numerous awards in recent years. We always do looking to the future, without forgetting our past.

Bodegas Balbás has 140 hectares of its own vineyard in production, divided into several plots with different types of soil and cultivation systems to extract its maximum essence from each one. In them we grow three varieties of red grape: Tempranillo, native to the Ribera del Duero, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, and Albillo Mayor as a white variety.

The grapes are harvested with the utmost care to preserve their properties, freshness and quality.

We strategically choose the perfect time to harvest and manually select each cluster. At the reception, the winemaker analyzes the main quality parameters of the grape, such as sugar, which will define the alcoholic strength, color and acidity, in order to determine the production process that best suits its characteristics.

Controlled lighting and temperature for optimal processing.

For aging, we use French and American oak barrels selected before manufacturing. In this way we can control the drying and roasting, to provide our reds with the best space for a peaceful rest. In addition, we can proudly boast of having a roast patented by our winemaker, which makes the 'recipe' for making our wines unique.

All this by itself would be of no use if it were not accompanied by a stable environment inside our barrel rooms. There we maintain daily controlled temperature, light and humidity. Thanks to the whole set, each barrel has the opportunity to evolve and give the best of itself.

Bottle rack

Every detail of our bottling process is taken care of at 100%.

We take care of all the details of the process until the final finishing and polishing in the bottle. Resting in optimal conditions is vital for a Balbás wine of the highest quality to reach the table. In the same way, the contact of a cork according to each type of wine is essential to complete its training.

At Bodegas Balbás we always seek to improve in order to achieve differentiation in the quality of our entire range of wines. Our labels stand out for their ascending line in their structure and balance, without forgetting the typicity of our region. The objective: that the final consumer always enjoys an excellent product.
