high altitude vineyard
Located at 940 meters of altitude, our farm The Malata crowns the Ribera del Duero becoming the perfect enclave to obtain grapes of exceptional quality. Extreme weather conditions, together with rocky and poor soils, give this wine visual power and unique aromas.
Current vintage: 2019
Variety: 75% Tempranillo and 25% Merlot
Months in barrel: 18 months in French oak barrels
Elaboration: This wine comes from our La Malata estate, located at more than 940m, being one of the highest in the appellation. The varieties that give rise to Ritus are the Tempranillo 75% and the Merlot 25%, all of which are cultivated in pots on rocky and poor soils, and harvested by hand. Ritus grapes are always the last to enter the cellar. With this we ensure optimum maturation, fermenting in 10,000kg tanks without the addition of yeast. Maceration can last up to twenty days.
CATA's notesPairing: We have a cherry-red wine with a high layer and medium density. On the nose it is delicate and fresh, whose first impression reminds us of red fruits. Notes of spices such as cinnamon and toasted aging predominate, reminiscent of cedar, vanilla beans and autumn leaves. On the palate we appreciate a very elegant and well-crafted wood. It is fresh, long, with a very integrated acidity; the tannin begins to polish and makes it delicious and elegant. It has great aging power.
Pairing: In addition to stews and pasta, the Merlot contained in our Ritus makes it ideal for semi-cured cheeses, game meat, rice dishes and even legumes.
